Narrow AI vs AGI
Definition
Narrow AI (ANI) is trained to perform a single, specific task. Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is a theoretical system that can understand, learn, and apply knowledge across any completely novel domain, identically to a human.
Explain Like I'm New
Narrow AI is a calculator—it's way better than you at math, but it can't write a poem. AGI is a human brain—it can learn to do math, write a poem, cook dinner, and drive a car.
Real World Example
Siri is Narrow AI. It can set a timer, but if you ask it to explain quantum physics or drive your car, it fails entirely. AGI would be capable of learning to do any job a human can do.
